Waialua
is located along Oahu’s northwestern coast between Haleiwa and the Dillingham Airfield. Once a sugar plantation town, Waialua is now known for their coffee. Grown at ideal altitudes on the fertile volcanic slopes, Waialua Coffee is Oahu’s only commercially grown and processed coffee. Tourists can tour the Waialua Coffee Visitors’ Center, which is housed in the old buildings of the Waialua Sugar Mill. Recreational activities abound in the area, including swimming and snorkeling, sailing, surfing, hiking, horseback riding and golf. A popular dive site in summer time is the Waialua Wall. This three mile long ledge has drops from 10 to 80 feet where you’ll find coral all along the wall as well as all kinds of tropical fish, turtles, lobster and eels. Waialua is only two miles from the famous historical town of Haleiwa, which is known for its’ fine restaurants, quaint shops and previous home of television’s Bay Watch Hawaii! The beaches of Waikiki and Honolulu are a 45-minute drive away. Waialua has a relaxed country atmosphere where you can witness incredible views of both the sunrise and the sunset. It makes a great place to base your Oahu vacation.

The island of Oahu%u2019s climate has its%u2019 greatest contrast between the dry season, which extends from May through October, and the wet season, November through April. Major widespread rainstorms, which account for the bulk of the precipitation in the area, usually occur nearly every day during the wet season, but are infrequent in the dry season. There is very little variation in temperature, except at the higher elevations. In summer, it is cooler at elevations over 2,000 feet. The temperature drops three degrees for every 1000 feet of elevation. It also rains more in the mountains and the upcountry areas, especially on the windward, or east side. Prevailing trade winds keep temperatures from becoming sweltering during the summer months.
