Mokuleia
is a pristine, family-friendly community located on Oahu’s North shore where visitors return year after year to enjoy the great surfing in the wintertime and the great swimming in the summertime! Mokuleia Beach Park is less crowded than other Oahu beaches, and offers a secluded stretch of beautiful white beach, turquoise blue waters and romantic sunsets. Known for its country atmosphere, you will feel like you’ve stepped back in time in Mokuleia, which has not changed much in the past thirty or so years. Aside from swimming and surfing, other things to do in the area include snorkeling, horseback riding at Mokuleia Ranch, hang gliding and sky diving through nearby Dillingham Airfield, and hiking in the Waianae Mountains. In wintertime, surfers flock to the area to experience the North Coast’s huge waves where several surfing competitions are held. Mokuleia is also just five miles away from the historic town of Haleiwa with its art galleries, souvenir shops, boutiques and fine restaurants. Three miles away is Kaena Point, the northwestern most point on Oahu and home to a sea bird sanctuary. Known as “Island’s End,” Kaena Point is itself a massive coral sand bluff where the rugged north and western shores converge, and it is thought by locals to be a spot of great physical and spiritual energy. The point can be reached by two hiking trails and is a good spot for a picnic.

The island of Oahu%u2019s climate has its%u2019 greatest contrast between the dry season, which extends from May through October, and the wet season, November through April. Major widespread rainstorms, which account for the bulk of the precipitation in the area, usually occur nearly every day during the wet season, but are infrequent in the dry season. There is very little variation in temperature, except at the higher elevations. In summer, it is cooler at elevations over 2,000 feet. The temperature drops three degrees for every 1000 feet of elevation. It also rains more in the mountains and the upcountry areas, especially on the windward, or east side. Prevailing trade winds keep temperatures from becoming sweltering during the summer months.
