Ualapue is located on the eastern side of Molokai. The island of Molokai is not as developed as Oahu and Maui, but if you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded Hawaiian vacation, with a taste of how things used to be, you will most likely be very pleased with the Ualapue, Molokai region. The largest village on the whole island is Kaunakakai, which is on the southeastern shore, and the community of Ualapue is about 13 miles east of this town. Dozens of outdoor recreational opportunities can be found nearby, including swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, biking and golf. The Kamehameha Highway runs along the scenic, southern coastline of the island for about thirty miles, passing through several small towns and villages. This is a very historic area, with evidence of traditional Hawaiian remains scattered throughout. The whole island of Molokai is not that large, so it’s easy to visit all the major attractions from Ualapue. Some of those include the Kakahaia National Wildlife Refuge, the Kamakou Preserve and the Palaau State Park. The Kalaupapa National Historic Park is the site of an isolation settlement in the late 1800s that was later a leprosy settlement. The site also encompasses areas relating to early Hawaiian history and has scenic and geological habitats for rare and endangered species.

Ualapue Weather & Climate

Hawaii is in the tropics, where temperature, humidity, as well as the length of day are relatively uniform throughout the year. Therefore, the most outstanding features of the climate are the persistence of northeasterly trade winds and significant differences in rainfall within short distances and within the seasons. There are basically only two seasons on the island of Molokai %u2013 summer and winter. Overall, summer, between May and October, is a few degrees warmer (peaking in August,) and drier. Winter is wetter and February and March are generally the coolest months. During summer, northeasterly trade winds are more persistent. Severe storms on Molokai are infrequent.
