Kaanapali
is located on the northwest coast of Maui between Kapalua and Lahaina and near the West Maui Forest Reserve. Four mile long Kaanapali has one of Maui’s best beaches, with golden sand as far as the eye can see. You will find showers and restrooms along this beach that is perfect for swimming and sunning, snorkeling, parasailing and other beach activities. Yet the beach is so long, it’s usually only populated in pockets. The best snorkeling can be found at Black Rock where the water is clear, calm and populated with clouds of tropical fish. You can experience the thrill of sailing on board a 65-foot yacht, or go on a whale watching adventure, snorkel sail or sunset sail – all available at Kaanapali Beach. A paved walkway links hotels and condos, open-air restaurants and shopping with the beach. You will find world-class golf at Kaanapali Resort North Course and South Course. Kaanapali is also home to Whalers Village, Shoppes and Museum. This is a large shopping center with over 50 unique shops, restaurants and other attractions, including open-air displays featuring Maui’s whaling days. It is right next to the beach and has oceanside dining. Kaanapali has everything you would expect in a perfect Maui vacation.

The northwestern tip of Maui is one of the driest and most sunny spots on the island. This region receives only about 12 to 15 inches of rainfall per year, mostly in the winter months, as compared to Hana on the east side which receives 90 inches per year. The prevailing trade winds serve to keep temperatures very pleasant and comfortable, even during the warmest months. The winds are from the northeast at about 5-15 miles per hour. Humidity is moderate to high, but due to the natural ventilation of the winds, the weather is seldom oppressive. In winter, Kona winds come from the opposite direction and usually indicate that bad weather is on the way. However, severe storms are rare on Maui.
