Waihee
is located on the northwestern coast of the island of Maui between Kahakuloa and Kahului near Waiehu Point and the West Maui Forest Reserve. To find this secluded tropical paradise, travel the Honoapilani Highway (Highway 30) that circles West Maui Island from Wailuku to Waihee. Along the way, you will pass Wahikuli State Wayside. This is a beautiful little beach with swimming, a shaded picnic area and other beach activities. Waihee is on the more quiet side of Maui away from the crowds and action of the more typical resort areas. Yet you are near beautiful white sand beaches, swimming, snorkeling, horseback riding and golf. One spectacular way to see the area is to take a bike tour that involves hiking the Waihee Valley Ridge, and then biking along the northwestern coast. This part of the Maui feels like old Hawaii, and offers breathtaking views. Waihee is just a short drive to the west coast town of Paia, with its trendy art galleries, boutiques and restaurants, and the famous “Windsurfing Capital of the World” at Hookipa Beach. Waihee is an undiscovered gem on Maui’s northwest coast, perfect for those seeking a little more solitude and privacy than the more well known towns on the island.

The northwestern region of Maui near the West Maui Rainforest receives a moderate amount of rainfall during the year, with most of it occurring between November and March. Summer months are dry, with some months often receiving season no measurable precipitation. The trade winds, often at speeds of 40 to 45 mph at the airport, serve to make living conditions in the nearby communities very pleasant and comfortable. Humidity is usually moderate, with wet season humidity averaging slightly higher than in the dry season. However, due to the system of natural ventilation provided by the prevailing winds, the weather is seldom too hot, even during the warmer months of the year. The normal range in temperature between the warmest month, August, and the coldest month, February, is only 7.2 degrees
