Punaluu
is located on the northwestern side of Oahu between Laie Point and Kualoa Point. This beautiful little beach is long and narrow and lined with tall coconut palms and ironwood trees that provide afternoon shade on the beach. A lovely green park with picnic tables runs alongside the beach and swimming is safe here year round inside a protective coral reef. Punaluu has a distinctive local flavor and is popular with local fishermen who you’ll find casting their line along the sandy shoreline. There are numerous other nearby beaches for snorkeling, diving, boating, or wind surfing. Punaluu is well known for its charming family run restaurant that serves delicious traditional cuisine, and the Punaluu Art Gallery that is owned and operated by famous candle artist Scott Bechtol. Just one mile from Punaluu is the entrance to Sacred Falls State Park and its incredible 87-foot waterfall. Other nearby attractions includes Kualoa Ranch, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and Waimea Falls State Park. The tiny town of Punaluu and Punaluu Beach Park are quiet and uncrowded and the coastal views are exceptional – a perfect choice for a secluded Hawaiian retreat.

Punaluu Weather & Climate
Oahu has a moderate tropical climate that is influenced by the warm Pacific Ocean and northeasterly trade winds. Temperatures vary little from place to place, except at higher elevations. Unlike the temperature, rainfall does vary according to location. The most rainfall is usually received on the east (windward) side of the island due to moisture-laden oceanic trade winds. Humidity is moderate, but usually not uncomfortable because the temperatures are so mild. The other major influencing weather factor in the Hawaiian Islands is orographic (caused by the mountains.) The higher the elevation, the greater the extremes in climate. Therefore, keep in mind that it can be 80 degrees along the coast, but 60 degrees in the mountains.
