Waikiki , on the island of Oahu, is the “sun and fun capital of the world,” and is always bustling with activity, anytime of day or night. Literally hundreds of people can be found outside strolling or sunning on the two-mile stretch of white sand beach that is lined with high rise hotels and condominiums. Others will be swimming, surfing, snorkeling, and playing golf, shopping or dining in one of the outstanding restaurants in the community. Waikiki Beach faces south, and to the east is famous Diamond Head volcano, to the west is Ala Moana Beach Park and to the north lies the mountains of the Ko’olaou range. Waikiki offers submarine excursions, whale watching, helicopter rides and swimming with fish at Hanauma Bay. Other nearby attractions includes Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial, Sea Life Park and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Waikiki has nightclubs, theater, shows and outdoor concerts at the beautiful Waikiki Shell at Kapiolani Park. If you ever tire of the beach activities, just a short drive takes you to rainforests and mountains where you can spend the day hiking or biking. You may also want to relax at one of Waikiki’s exclusive health and wellness spas. However you choose to spend your time, Waikiki is undoubtedly the world’s most famous beach and makes for an unforgettable Hawaiian vacation.

Waikiki Weather & Climate

Oahu has a tropical climate but with many variations within short distances on the island. This is because there are greater variations between elevations and coast exposures (leeward or windward) than in temperatures or seasons. The southern side of the island, near Honolulu and Waikiki Beach receives much less rainfall than the north and west (or leeward) sides. There are two mountain ranges that influence the climate of Oahu %u2013 both serve to block trade wind moisture from reaching the south and southwestern sides of the island, thus resulting in the drier climate. In the Waikiki area, yearly rainfall is 25 inches (with most of that occurring in November through March,) as compared to Manoa Valley, which is just a few miles away upland, and receives 158 inches. Overall, Oahu enjoys warm, balmy weather year round, with moderate humidity and no extremes.
