Kalaheo
is located on the south side of the island of Kauai, just inland in the foothills along Highway 50 near the Kaukiuki Falls. Life is slow and easy in quaint Kalaheo where the main street of town looks like you’ve stepped back into the western frontier. There are several good restaurants in town, as well as shopping for all the necessities. Kalaheo is home to the Kalaheo Coffee Company, and the Olu Pua Gardens and Plantations, which features tropical plants, fruits and flowers from all over the world. Olu Pua means “at peace among the flowers,” which is exactly how you’ll feel when you tour this 12-acre estate. You can stroll among the rare orchids, ginger, hibiscus, palms and other native plants. It’s open daily for tours, except on major holidays, and is a must see while visiting Kalaheo. Just a few minutes from the town of Kalaheo takes you to all the beautiful south side and west side beaches and swimming, surfing and snorkeling. You will also find hiking, mountain biking and fishing at nearby Inuoloue Reservoir and Alexanders Lake. There is a lot to explore on the south side of Kauai, and Kalaheo is a charming place to stop and rest at the end of the day.

Kalaheo Weather & Climate
Southwestern Kauai is the sunniest, driest part of the island. The northern part around Hanalei is the rainiest. With warm, gentle temperatures and cooling tradewinds, the climate on Kauai is never too hot or oppressive. The biggest contrast in the weather is the difference in the amount of rainfall between the rainy season of winter (October through March,) and the dry summer season (April through September.) There is very little variation in temperature, except in higher elevations where it is cooler year round. Overall, you will find more variation in temperature with location, rather than season. On the island of Kauai, the waters are calmer in the summers and the tradewinds blow more frequently. Storms such as hurricanes are infrequent, although the threat does exist.
