Kailua
is located along the southeastern shore of Oahu, and has been rated by Conde Nast as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Over two miles of pristine white sand beach invites visitors to enjoy hours of leisurely sun-filled days, walks along the beach at sunset, or a variety of action filled activities. The entry into the ocean is shallow and is a safe play area for children. You can also enjoy snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, kayaking and sailing. Kailua Bay is also one of the most popular places to windsurf on the island of Oahu. The town of Kailua offers lots of other activities for families, as well, such as movie theaters, bowling, restaurants and boutiques. Non-beach activities include tennis, golf, horseback riding, and mountain biking. An interesting point of historical interest near Kailua is the Ulu Po Heiau, a sacred platform of ancient worship to the Gods. Just minutes away from many other Oahu attractions, such as Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach, the town of Kailua makes a peaceful retreat on what is considered by many to be the best beach in Hawaii.

Kailua Weather & Climate

|
The island of Oahu has a moderate tropical climate with gentle northeasterly tradewinds and warm Pacific waters almost year-round. Temperatures vary little from place to place, except at higher elevations The average annual temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit fluctuates only a few degrees from summer (May through October) to winter (November through April.) Unlike the temperature, Hawaii%u2019s rainfall varies tremendously according to location. The highest amount of rainfall is usually at moderate elevations on the windward (east) sides of the islands and is due to moisture-laden oceanic tradewinds. Leeward (western) locations are drier, because they are shielded from the damp winds by mountains. Mild rain and windstorms are more frequent during Hawaii%u2019s winter months, but they generally clear within 24 hours. Although severe storms are uncommon (such as hurricanes or tropical storms,) they do make landfall in the Central Pacific, on average, every 8 to 10 years.
